During your stay in Pays Basque we can build for you some tailored itineraries:
- French and Spanish side of Pays Basque (full day)
If you stay in Biarritz, Peplum can offer to have a day of discovery of Pays Basque of both side of the French-Spanish border.
Starting at Bayonne you will visit that pretty small town and discover the architectural and culinary particularities, the next stop will be the capital of the region Biarritz with its haute villagiature traditions and the glory past. The cost till the Spanish border is picturesque and arriving to the frontier the last French city is St Jean de Luz – the historical city being the witness of the important moment of French history. The Spanish side our guide will show you small villages – the pirate den on the cost and finally you will arrival to San Sebastian.
- The discovery of Basque gastronomy and wine. (half day)
This half day will start in Bayonne where you will start by the high side of the Atlantic coast visiting the picturesque village of Espellette tasting the local chees and wine. Coming down to the cast you will visit Bayonne and taste the famous Bayonne ham. The tour can be extended by the cooking class of Basquaise chicken or you will taste in a local restaurant.
- The contrebandier road and gastronomy tour (full day)
Starting from Biarritz the road will go up in the mountain. You will follow a part of the (route de contrebandiers) passing by the picturesque village. During the way you will taste the local chees. The high light point will be the district of Irouléguy – the best terroir of Basque wine in this part of Gascogne. Tasting at the local producer.
The return to the Biarritz will pass by the coast via St Jean de Luz.
